2003-04 Limited Entry Hunting Synopsis Released

VICTORIA - A synopsis of this year's limited entry hunting regulations is now available online and through government agents' offices and stores where hunting licences are sold, the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection announced today.

The synopsis is available at www.gov.bc.ca/wlap/ online by clicking on LEH Synopsis in the Popular Topics list.

The random draw system for limited entry hunting allocates hunting opportunities to B.C. residents.  This system limits the number of hunters and the number of animals harvested in specific areas.

Limited entry hunting seasons change to address conservation concerns or increase hunting opportunities where conservation interests allow.  Last year, there were 156,433 applications for 22,731 authorizations to hunt 10 game species.

NOTE: There is a typographical error on page 7 of the synopsis regarding moose seasons in the Kootenay region. Hunt codes 4092 and 4120 should read M.U. 4-39 Zone F and not as shown. The Internet version of the synopsis has been changed to show the correct information.
