VICTORIA - Beach access at West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park on Vancouver Island has been temporarily closed to swimming by order of the regional health officer due to high fecal coliform counts resulting from Canada geese waste.

Signs alerting swimmers to the closure have been posted. Beach closures may be implemented at any time to ensure public health and safety. Alternative beach and swimming facilities are located at nearby Masons Beach Regional Park.
