Provincial Fire Ban Lifted In North-Eastern Alberta
EDMONTON - Due to the recent precipitation across parts of the province, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development has lifted its provincial fire ban in the Athabasca and Lac La Biche region.
The fire hazard conditions continue to be monitored on a daily basis as the threat of wildfire outbreak still remains. At this time, Alberta Sustainable Resource Development has no fire bans in effect. Municipal districts, counties, cities, towns, villages and summer villages may put their own fire bans into effect. Please contact your local municipal office, fire department or log onto alberta.firebans.com for further information.
Campers are encouraged to continue to be vigilant and ensure their campfires are completely extinguished by taking the following precautions:
* keep your campfire small;
* always have extra water on hand;
* never leave your fire unattended; and
* when you are extinguishing your campfire, soak it, then soak it again making sure that you stir the ashes thoroughly.
Carelessly discarded cigarettes and vehicle exhaust systems are among many potential causes of wildfires. Alberta Sustainable Resource Development is encouraging all farm machinery and ATV operators to take extra care during these conditions to prevent a possible wildfire.
To report a wildfire, call collect (780) 427-FIRE (3473), or #FIRE on the Telus Mobility Network.
