Test Drive our New Website

We are pleased to unveil our new website in this newsletter. The site is still in the testing phase and we encourage users to try it out and let us know what you think. Here is a quick breakdown of the site's new features:

  • FREE MAPS: A BIG BOOST in the number of maps. We have increased the number of downloadable maps to nearly three thousand. The first batch of new maps are of lakes from British Columbia. Our database of Alberta and Ontario lake maps will also be expanded over the next several months. Click the province name link above to see which lakes will be added.
  • POSTS: Post a fishing report for specific lakes, or tell us if we've made a mistake. Our Tips'n'Tales section will be relocated here.
  • PICTURES: Upload pictures to lakes you've fished at (or any fishing picture you just want to show off). All entries are automatically included in our annual photo contest. Our current Flybox will be relocated to this section of the new site over the next several months.
  • GOOGLEMAP: We have integrated Googlemaps with every lake featured on our new website to help users find where the lakes are located. We're just at starting gate with Google's new mapping tools and as our site evolves we expect them to become an integral part of the mapping process.
  • NEWSLETTERS: As we roll out our new site, our electronic newsletters will become a central feature to communicate with members.
  • IN PRINT: Our subscription service is being renamed "In Print" and will feature the maps we publish in print publications. Our original subscription maps will still be available through this service.
  • MAP STORE: In a survey conducted with members last year, there was a strong demand for related maps that can be bought. So over the next several months we intend to bring more of these retail maps to our site, giving more choices of maps to our members.

Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding our new website.

Sincerely,
Sean Simmons

What About the Current Site?

The current website will continue to operate for the forseeable future. Over time we will shift all our content over and slowly shut down the current site.

This year we have added another two newspapers to our In Print feature - The Abbotsford News and Kootenay Advertiser. All fishing maps published in community newspapers are available to subscribers. Many of these lakes have not been featured before. Sign up today and download the whole series from this season. Subscriptions are $20 (CDN) per year.

Ferguson Lake

Ferguson Lake Fishery

Ferguson Lake is a small lake near Prince George, British Columbia, and on September 29, 2007 volunteers from the Spruce City Wildlife Association released nearly 2,200 rainbow trout into the lake. It is part of the club's initiative to develop a popular local fishery for kids and the disabled. There are plans to build a new dock this winter, and install it next spring. To learn more about this intiative and how you can support this city fishery, please contact Sean Simmons at (250) 964-268 or by email.
