INSIDE THE GUIDE: The Fishing Experience of a Lifetime? Come to British Columbia

British Columbia is big. It stretches over 1,200 kilometres from Canada's border with the United States north to the Yukon border and over 1,000 kilometres from the Pacific Ocean to the Rocky Mountain. Covering almost 945,000 square kilometres, British Columbia is larger than the combined areas of California, Washington and Idaho. Circumnavigating some 6,000 islands, and pushing deep into steep-sided, glacially carved fjords, B.C.'s rugged saltwater coastline measures almost 27,000 kilometres. The towering mountain ranges on Vancouver Island, the Coast Mountains, and the Rockies run north-south to intercept weather systems from the Pacific Ocean, which then release captured moisture as precipitation to replenish both man-made impoundments and thousands of natural lakes, ponds, rivers and streams.

BRIDGE LAKE

Bridge Lake is dotted with islands and shoals, providing a diversity of fishing holes to explore. It has good fishing for rainbow trout, kokanee and burbot.

There is a popular lure called the Bingobug, which works well for trolling. A Wedding Band and worm are always a reliable producer, and a white Apex with red tip also works well. Fly fishers may find that leeches, Woolly Buggers, horsehair nymphs and Carey Specials are reliable patterns.

2011 FISHING GUIDES

New guides published in April

The Angler's Atlas and Glacier Media teamed up in 2011 to publish nine regional fishing guides across British Columbia, covering every region of the province. Download any of the guides by click the link below. These are BIG files, so be patient. They range in size between 12 MB and 25 MB and may take a while to download.

Covers of the 2011 BC fishing guides were selected from nine early bird winners in our annual photo contest. A special thanks to the participants for these great shots!

RULES

1. The contest is open to everyone, and contestants can enter as often as they like.

2. To enter a photo, you need to register with The Angler's Atlas. There is no charge to register.

3. Upload your photo to The Angler's Atlas photocontest page. Photos entered on regular lake pages during the contest will also qualify.

4. There are five prizes awarded in each category, including a Grand Prize for each category, selected by the Publisher. Prizes are also offered for early bird winners (in March).

5. Contestant photo need to be submitted in high resolution, and a description about the photo and where it was taken. Note: the quality of the story can influence the judges selection.

6. Photos may be used in marketing and promotions for The Angler's Atlas. Credit will be given for any photo used.
