Located in the south-west corner of Alberta, ES1 is nestled in the Rocky Mountains. The boundaries for ES1 include the Oldman River watershed upstream of Secondary Road 509 (near Coalhurst), and the Bow River Watershed upstream of Highway 24 (near Carseland).

NB1, named after the Northern Boreal forest, includes the Beaver River watershed and the Athabasca River watershed between the north boundary of Township 75 and Sec. Rd. 813 (near the town of Athabasca). It also includes the the Calling River watershed, and the Lac la Biche watershed. Note - see fishing reg's for details of exact boundary location.

PP1 zone is located in the south-east corner of Alberta, and consists of several watershed untis, including the Milk River Watershed, the South Saskatchewan River watershed upstream to Secondary Road 509 on the Oldman River (near Coalhurst), the St. Mary's River watershed, and the Bow River watershed downstream of Highway 24 (near Carseland).

ES2 stretches along the Rocky Mountains, bordering Banff and Jasper National Park. The boundary for ES2 include the Red Deer River watershed upstream of the Dickson Dam (west of Innisfail), and the North Saskatchewan River watershed upstream of Highway 22/39 (near Drayton Valley)

The Athabasca River watershed, between Sec.Rd. 813 (near Athtabasca) and Sec.Rd.658 (near Whitecourt) make up NB2. This also includes the Lesser Slave River watershed and the Pembina River watershed downstream of Highway 43 (near Sangudo).

Highway 16 between Edmonton and Jasper runs through ES3, which includes the Athabasca River watershed upstream of Secondary Rd 658 (near Whitecourt), and the Pembina River watershed upstream of Highway 43 (near Sangudo).

Covering the north-west portion of the province, NB3 is the largest zone, and covers the Peace River watershed between the western border and Wood Buffalo National Park. It also includes Hay River, Petitot River, Fontas River, Yates River, Whitesand River, and Buffalo River watersheds.

The Smoky River watershed, upstream of the 21st Base Line, and the Albright Creek watershed forms the boundary of ES4.

NB4 is located in the north-east corner of Alberta, and its boundaries follow the Athabasca River watershed downstream of the north boundary of Township 78 (near Pelican River). This includes the Clearwater River and Christina River watersheds, and the Slave River and Lake Athabasca watersheds - including all watersheds north of Lake Athabasca.
