Stickle Back Minnow

FISHING COURTNEY LAKE

This medium sized lake is located off of the 5A in Merritt.  A great scenic lake with lots of shoals.  The fly that has worked best for this lake is a Stickle Back imitation.  The lake is full of Stickle Backs, the easiest way to fish this lake would be to use full sinking line with 2 feet of leader or sink tip with 5 feet of leader or floating line with 13 feet of leader and troll the drop offs (which are easily identifiable).  This lake produces some big fish, best in the morning and late evening.  I recommend trying this lake at least once, you will not be disappointed.  The local fly shop in Merritt will be able to provide you with different Stickle Back patterns that work, I have been mostly successful with a weighted green version.
