GETTING STARTED ON THE WHITE MARABOU MUDDLER

Materials Needed:
  • Hook: Tiemco 200R, Size 6
  • Thread: 6/0 Brown
  • Tail: Red Soft Hackle
  • Body: Metallic Chenille
  • Wing: White Marabou with Peacock Herl
  • Head: Winter Mule Deer

Step 1: Tie in red soft hackle for a short tail.
Step 2: Wrap the body in with the metallic chenille.
Step 3: Put in a nice full long amount of white marabou for the wing.
Step 4: Place 3-4 strands of peacock herl over the marabou, make it the same length as the marabou.
Step 5: Wrap in some mule deer to start to form the head.  On the first clump, leave a collar of deer hair that extends back over the wing. Do not trim this collar when forming the head!
Step 6: After wrapping in a bunch of deer hair (use small amounts and push the deer hair back to make room for more, you should use 3-4 clumps to form the head), then trim the head to give it a bullet shape.
Step 7: Whip finish and the fly is ready for the water.
