GETTING STARTED

MATERIALS NEEDED
  • Hook: TMC 100 Size 12
  • Thread: UTC 70 Black
  • Tail: Moose Mane Tips
  • Body: Moose Mane Hairs
  • Wing: Grey Calf Tail
  • Hackle: Light Dun Neck Hackle
Step 1: Tie in a clump of grey calf tail for the wing.
Step 2: Tie in wing so it is upright.
Step 3: Measure up 4 moose mane tips, the length of the hook and tie in for the tail.
Step 4: Tie in 4-6 moose mane hairs.
Step 5: Wrap the moose mane forward to form the body.
Step 6: Cover the moose mane body with hard head finish, head cement or Flexament.
Step 7: Tie in a hackle.
Step 8: Wrap hackle behind and in front of wing to form legs.
Step 9: Whip finish and the fly is ready for dry fly fishing.
